About Keystone Hatchery
Keystone Hatchery came about in 2005, when a small group of broiler farmers and fertile eggs producers decided to pool their resources and set up an independent chick supplier. These farmers became the first suppliers and customers of the business, and it remains one of the few independently owned hatcheries in the province. The hatchery specialises in the Cobb breed, though alternate breeds are offered in limited quantities.
The health status of our suppliers' flocks is monitored by way of routine blood tests and regular visits by our veterinarian. Keystone collects eggs from the producers and grades all eggs prior to incubation to ensure that only the best quality is used in the hatchery.
Our delivery fleet typically transports loads of about 40 000 chicks to destinations up to 800km away. We deliver the chicks at a time convenient our customers, often travelling through the night to achieve this. All trucks are equipped with mechanised tail lifts to ensure quick off-loading. Good use is made of the satellite tracking systems to monitor performance and progress of vehicles on their way to the customer.
